My old room mate at University (2003) had, as most students did in the UK, a natural reluctance to do anything academic. So to motivate himself, he bought a bunch of self help books. He tossed them on the dining room table and proclaimed himself a new man. Fast forward 6 months and those books lay in the exact same place. Unread. He bought motivation books but couldn’t gather the motivation to actually read them. Irony noted.
Nonetheless, it is something I come across all the time. Everywhere, I see this. Lack of motivation doesn’t parade itself proudly, we are all too self conscious for that, lack of motivation (or fear) uses deception. The most widely used form is excuses.
